Professor Maurice Kamto, a prominent and respected Cameroonian jurist, former president of the UN International Law Commission, was arrested on 28 January 2019 in Douala.
A pioneer in the promotion of environmental law in the African continent, Professor Maurice Kamto published in 1996 the first authoritative French book entitled : Droit de l’environnement en Afrique.
The International Center for Comparative Environmental Law (CIDCE), which has repeatedly benefited from the scientific contributions of Professor Maurice Kamto for numerous publications and conferences on environmental law, calls for his immediate release and full respect of all his rights.

Le professeur Maurice Kamto, éminent juriste camerounais mondialement connu et respecté, ancien président de la Commission du droit international de l’ONU, a été arrêté le 28 janvier 2019 à Douala.
Pionnier de la promotion du droit de l’environnement dans le continent africain, le professeur Maurice Kamto a publié en 1996 le premier ouvrage en français faisant autorité en la matière, intitulé Droit de l’environnement en Afrique.
Le Centre international de droit comparé de l’environnement (CIDCE), qui a maintes fois bénéficié des contributions scientifiques du professeur Maurice Kamto pour de nombreuses publications et conférences portant sur le droit de l’environnement, appelle à sa libération immédiate et au plein respect de tous ses droits.
